Since I didn't think of making an AAR when I first started playing I will start off at 1714, with the ascension of Frederika Louisa I to the throne. Difficulty is set to hard. I will not reload a save game unless some bug or some stupid decision is made by the game(Such as giving Bavaria to Poland-Lithuania because they attacked it with 4 units when I was besieging it with my 18 unit army...). I will probably engage in unscrupulous activities just to give some variation to the AAR.) ![]() Birth of the Prussian Empire -With the passing of Frederick I, King in Prussia, his sole heir Frederika Louisa ascended the throne, commencing the War of Succession between Prussia and Sweden. Only two years after the great victory over Courland(1) and the annexation of it's territory into the greater Prussian Kingdom war again threatened the nation. Prussia's armies, still bruised from the 1709-1712 war, would have to rise yet again to the occasion and defend the fatherland. -Having focused heavily on commerce and agriculture under the rule of Frederick I, it was not apparent that improvements to the Prussian Army would have to become a priority as Sweden was no mere Duchy. Thankfully, Sweden was already involved in several wars and so would be unlikely to field any large army against Prussia, at least not in the first stages of the war. Nonetheless, one thing was certain, the road ahead would not be easy. Current Government: ![]() ---------- 1 - The Battle of Tilsit and the Siege of Jelgava(.rar) |

The Little War -During the summer months after Sweden's declaration of war Frederika Louisa I planned for a campaign against Livonia & Estonia. Sweden had overextended itself, mired in wars with Denmark and Great Britain to the West and Russia to the East, and had left this Voivodeship practically undefended. The East Prussian Army was still in Courland on the border of the Livonian Voivodeship and after reinforcing the army over the summer and fall they were prepared for a winter campaign. Sweden's fleet was killing off Prussia's prosperous trade routes with Great Britain and the Ottman Empire, straining the economy and a show of force would hopefully persuade Sweden to sign a peace treaty, if only a temporary one. -On a cloudy winter morning the 1300 man strong East Prussian Army came upon Riga, capital of Livonia & Estonia. On the walls stood poorly armed peasants, less than 200 of them. The outcome was already given, the toll they would have to pay was not. As artillery hammered the fortifications the Prussian infantry surrounded the town and scaled the walls, the peasants but a nuisance. But a moment had passed and the town was in Prussian hands, as was the entire Voivodeship. The Battle of Riga(1) marked the end of The Little War and before the year was over Sweden had agreed to a peace treaty. ![]() -But this was but a respite, large scale war with Sweden was inevitable. But at least now, Prussia had time to rest and prepare. ---------- 1 - The Battle of Riga(.rep) |

Southern Troubles The Kingdom of Prussia as of Winter 1714: ![]() -After the peace treaty of 1714 with Sweden Prussia enjoyed a time of peace and prosperity. The nation became more and more industrialized and the ideas of the Enlightenment started to set their seeds in the population. Courland and Livonia & Estonia became assimilated into the Greater Prussian Kingdom and, under the guidance of Frederika Louisa I, began to prosper. Trouble was never far behind, though. -In 1719 Austria began a series of campaigns in order to expand it's territory, declaring war on Poland-Lithuania. A good trade partner and trusted neighbor, the territories of Poland-Lithuania would need protection. In 1721, after the Austrian occupation of Gdansk, Prussia declared war and in 1722 besieged the occupying forces for a year until Polish-Lithuanian forces arrived to relieve them and reclaim the territory. After winter had passed, an agreement of joint military access for five years was signed and the West Prussian Army headed South to invade Silesia, where they were ambushed by a larger Austrian army on the border. Attacked from two sides, the West Prussian Army stood its ground against a numerically superior foe and dealt a devastating blow by nearly annihilating the entire 950 man Austrian army(1). With good use of artillery and experienced soldiers the Austrian forces were beaten back and in the winter of 1723 Polish-Lithuanian forces seized control of Silesia. In the summer of 1723, with the southern borders secure, the West Prussian Army headed home after negotiating a peace treaty with Austria stipulating a fair amount of technological knowledge to be granted the Kingdom of Prussia as compensation for the resources spent during the 1721-1723 war. ![]() ---------- 1 - The Battle of Silesia(.rep) |

Going to edit the thread title if you don't mind, make it a general ETW AAR. Don't want too many floating around

BTW, anybody know of a good, simple screenshot program that will just let me take screenshots and have them saved in a folder? WeGame doesn't support E:TW(I'm sure it will, eventually though) and any software I find is either not made for that purpose or or just doesn't work. | |

Yeah, I'd go with xfire, though it does save them as pngs. Doesn't ETW save them?
Also, changed the title again. |
