mgs3 is my favorite as it was just awesome, the storyline, the pace of it, the missions, the cast, the guns, everything specially the cqc
then mgs4 which was just so epic and one hell of a bang to end the series (if it really has ended...) |

Sorry, just wanted to bump as I am working on the last of my thesis mostly about MGS. 23 pages now, low limit is 30, but I hope to keep it up and get above that.
Do you think its tacky to not only include MGS but also PR[the two things I love most] in my own senior thesis? It fits the topic of media convergence and participatory culture[modding] but i feel like it could just come across as a lame unacademic plug for the game I contribute to :P I want to use it to contrast with America's Army, a government funded game that only lets you play as the Americans. And the enemy always looks like terrorists... but to the enemy team, YOU are the terrorist character model. But in PR, mostly due imo to a lack of funding by any developer/producer or government funding[basically, no ones money or reputation at stake but our own individual reps], obviously, its different.. we have VBIEDs, IED's, civilians, etc. I wanted to highlight the importance of a lack of too much government involvement in the production/funding of media [mostly, of course, when it leads to over regulation and turning it into propaganda(Americas Army)] |

lol, I know It's basically like "Write about your favorite things in an academic way" Thesis has come to be about, in short, the growing importance of new media[mainly video games] as a means of exporting a nations ideas and philosophies etc. and gaining Soft Power through it. And how video games in particular have a unique advantage in that they are very participation oriented[participatory culture, mostly seen by Modding in my paper but also in the sense that you as the consumer are actively making choices]. Sort of like modern age choose-your-own-adventure books, or say if there were [more] movies where you could choose paths along the way. More room for emotional attachment, etc. | |

Ah, that's really interesting. I'm aware of soft power, I was a PoliSci major before I threw my future away and finished with a degree in small farm agriculture. If you keep it academic -- focusing on such aspects as Community Factions etc, then I see no problem -- I know you will.
