For a converter, I don't know of any that can convert from the protected AAC format, but Google it. | |

good software can be relatively cheap, Sony Soundforge Audio Studio. $54.95
I have it, it is a good piece of software. You can convert any audio format to any other (except MIDI). Loads you can do. Sony Creative Software - Sound Forge 9 and Sound Forge Audio Studio |

I forgot about Audacity also. Its not really meant for file conversion but sound editing but will open AAC and save them as various different formats including Wma, MP3 (with plugin) and Wav.

Audacity is a good program, but haven't tried doing what we are talking about here in that program before. Will have to give it a try.
As a side note, most of my music I bought in Itunes, but my wife got an mp3 player as a gift last year that is Creative branded, so won't work in itunes. We have found that the Amazon.com MP3 store is actually pretty good, and once you buy a song just put it in the itunes folder. That way she can use the song and I can put it on my Iphone. Prices are the same or sometimes cheaper even. |
