Bundeswehr = fly swatter's?

This is a statement about the initial post of the official The official Bundeswehr thread created by [R-DEV]bosco.

Hi guys,

everyone of us has a different attitude towards the military. Some or more into firing weapons, some of us crawl through the woods in their free time, and some of us dont. And all of this is OK, since we are all mature and tolerant people who know whats is right to do and what is not right to do.

Or so I thought.

Bosco, there is not excuse for the picture #6. Frankly speaking, I do not know why You have showed a Bundeswehr soldier on mission making the Hitler salute.
I can not say how dissappointed I am when I see this: It both makes me sad and angry. Sad, because I thought the people nowadays have learned from the past and know better. Angry, because I would expect someone like You to think twice before re-connecting nazi symbols with the German Army.
And will even speak about that soldier here, whom I would report for this if I could, who effectively degrades the german army in my eyes either to a bunch of idiots, who have no idea what they are doing (not speaking about fighting here), like the murderers in WWII.

And it is not just me, whose family was annhilated in WWII and Warsaw uprising in '44 by SS and Gestapo who should be sensitive to this subject. Anyone who has a sense of moral should be alerted by this picture. Even if this things happen due to a bunch of morons, there is no reason to show it off.
Maybe You are not coming from Europe and therefore may not share this kind of feelings. If so, please understand my request and remove this picture. It will not do good for this community.

Still, maybe I do miss a point here - and therefore I ask for a explanation.

OK. Then it is not the Hitler salute, but just a wrong or inversed Hitler salute. We both know that these kind of greetings and symbols have changed in time. He could also have waved a flag with "88" written on it, or use another alternative, because not forbidden modern Nazi symbol.

Or am I wrong and this guy tried to kill a fly on the vehicle he is sitting in, and is using his left arm because the rifle was in his right? What is the soldier doing there? What kind of gesture is this ?

thanks for reopening that thread for a statement of mine, and for giving this thread a much more intelligent and fitting title.

I had no intention

* to insult the 250.000 members of the Bundeswehr. It is the protector of the democratic state of the Federal Republic of Germany, and it upholds the principles on which the modern german state is build.

* to make a witch hunt.

But I ask to understand my reasons. I still do not understand this picture. While it is technically not correct symbol - I did not even look at it properly because I felt so offended - it does bring up bad memories and associations. I am no leftist extremist, I am even not aligned to the left, but I greatly dislike this gesture. And so I did not, and do not, understand why it was posted.

Of course, if it was made to provoke and make the observer think, let it be. In the first seconds, I had another impression. But please be aware that this may hurt people when they see it.

Ok you are bit thick skulled it seems. I'm sure if I took enough pictures of you during a day I'd end up have you "do" a Nazi salute... Heck I do it everyday in my shower, but luckily for me no pesky Nazi hunter sees me reaching for the soap
