Also, if she likes the computer you could always get her started in HTML, shell scripting, C++, MYSQL, et cetera. It's never too early to start and programming involves lots of reading. Oh, and get her Legos. Legos are key to genius. You see, Legos require you to build in an object oriented style which falls in line with construction and a popular programming style. Furthermore, it encourages children to break things down into components and see it as a system rather than a whole device.

She is becoming a perfect worker for the next generation..

Actually reminds me of my youngest brother. He used to always watch me play games and even now (He's 13 now) he enjoys watching me play games.

I see nothing wrong with whats happening with your sister. She will learn about life through school and friends soon enough.

Oh hell yes. Legos are the greatest toy ever. They're both incredibly f*cking fun and also encourage you to think both creatively and in a structured way.

Read books too her, get her invloved in fun activities. Go play outside games...no not a PSP out side, but physical games.

And she should be learning now, little kids soak up everything, if she is doing grown up things now she wont have a fun childhood...and this is the best time of your life.

Try getting her to play outside, maybe try to read books more around her, to spark an interest in reading in her.

Agreed 100%
Legos are the best toys... I'd spend all of my gift money on Lego until my room was completely taken over by it. I can't remember playing with any other toy from ages 5-12 besides it.

I agree on the lego thing. They are fun and really good for the education.

Other than that - I don't think reading will be a big issue. Someone who's interested in games will want to learn to read sooner or later i think.

Just make sure she doesnt stay in the house all day. And if its just for health reasons.

I'd also suggest an instrument or a skill of some sort. Learning the basics of those at a young age lets you do the fun part when you're old enough to appreciate it.
