Sea cucumbers are stranger than fiction.

YouTube Video

Quote:
Sea cucumbers extract oxygen from water in a pair of 'respiratory trees' that branch off the cloaca just inside the anus, so that they 'breathe' by drawing water in through the anus and then expelling it.[8][9] A variety of fish, most commonly pearl fish, have evolved a commensalistic symbiotic relationship with sea cucumbers in which the pearl fish will live in sea cucumber's cloaca using it for protection from predation, a source of food (the nutrients passing in and out of the anus from the water), and to develop into their adult stage of life. Many polychaete worms and crabs have also specialized to use the cloacal respiratory trees for protection by living inside the sea cucumber.
Yes, it breathes through its ass. And a small fish named the pearlfish, lives, seeks protection, breaths and eats inside the sea cucumbers ass.
The pearlfish isn't alone living inside the ass of the cucumber, it shares this ability with crabs and worms. (New STD: anal Kamchatka crabs?)
(BTW I'm really sorry I couldn't find any videos of the fish swimming into the sea cucumbers ass, its really sexy though, I promise)

From Cp's video:

WTF does that have ANYTHING to do with a sea cucumber, haha. That last sentence made me just stop and stare at my screen. Lol...

Pretty insane though, really crazy how some animals function

Strange animals are fun!

Candiru fish, lives in the amazonas:

The danger for the person lies more in the infection and shock that results from having the organism lodged there for an extended period of time than from physical damage done by the actual fish itself.

The fish locates its human targets when people urinate near the fish. A well-circulated myth is that the candiru is capable of swimming up the stream of urine in mid-air to a victim standing on shore or a boat, although this assertion is likely false. Nonetheless, there was a case in which the victim claimed that the fish jumped while he was urinating thigh deep.[8] They are also probably not attracted to pure urine.[4] It is believed that they are able to enter a human urethra only when it is expanded during urination.[8]

Thats right, It will crawl up your penis and lodges itself in there with spines if you urinate in the water close to the fish (it detects the ammoniac in the urine).
Got to be removed with surgery.

Tired of people peeing in the pool?
Let loose a school of Candirus!

More fun:

Cymothoa exigua:

This parasite attaches itself at the base of the spotted rose snapper's (Lutjanus guttatus) tongue, entering the fish's mouth through its gills. It then proceeds to extract blood through the claws on its front three pairs of legs. As the parasite grows, less and less blood reaches the tongue, and eventually the organ atrophies from lack of blood. The parasite then replaces the fish's tongue by attaching its own body to the muscles of the tongue stub. The fish is able to use the parasite just like a normal tongue. It appears that the parasite does not cause any other damage to the host fish.[1] Once C. exigua replaces the tongue, some feed on the host's blood and many others feed on fish mucus. They do not eat scraps of the fish's food.[2] This is the only known case of a parasite functionally replacing a host organ.

There are many species of Cymothoa,[3] but only C. exigua is known to consume and replace its host's tongue.

It eats its host fish's tongue and then lodges itself inplace and replaces the tongue, and then lives of the blood from the fish.

Damn man, CP, that last one... [/thread] right there Hahaha, crazy that it takes over the ants mind... freaky stuff...

So wait... its almost theoretically possible for something like that to be able to take over the human mind right? We need a movie like that... they get infected, act all funy, then start like.. climbing and stuff and getting all angry and agitated, so we need to dump them off somewhere far away... and then they burst and grow.... Ughhh. man... wicked...
