The factual basis is the stories of the men involved as well as reports from other "prisoners" of the war of terror.

So, these guys who periodically pop in, are they really ex-Guantanamo detainees? I'm thinking it's just some recipie for a spicy story.
All that aside, even 3/4 of the way into this movie I'm already pretty dissapointed. Just another movie trying to make Americans look like a bunch of Nazis. Every American is a big evil monster, but when they throw a British guy in, suddenly he's smart and witty. More of this Euro-trash "Amerkkka" propaganda bullshit. |

Yea, it's basically one of those movies that make the Taliban look like a bunch of nice, happy guys, which it is not. Biased propaganda IMO.

Sigh I saw nothing to support that in the movie. It made the Taliban look like a bunch of poor, scared, uneducated mountain folk if you ask me. The point of the movie is that the main characters were NOT part of the Taliban. I swear you just "skimmed" the movie and didn't watch it at all.

Yes, I caught that these guys weren't part of the Taliban, they were brought to a Taliban camp thinking they were going back to Pakistan. My point was that the movie makes the U.S. look like the big evil monsters, but makes the Taliban (An government notorious for violence) look relitively innocent. In my opinion, this is biased. Granted, the U.S. is no shining angel, but I'm pretty sure not every single one of our soldiers is a big evil neocon bent on torturing and beating every single Arab they ever see. I'm also pretty sure the Taliban isn't entirely comprised of nice, "confused" mountain folk who just happen to be fighting for a brutal regime. This movie would gain more credibility if someone would show me a news story pertaining to these individuals, that way I would know this isn't just some sort of act. I'm not saying it's true or untrue, I just don't like to believe anything without doing some reasearch into it first. On a sidenote, the movie was very well done from a filmwork perspective. Pretty moving at times, made me feel unconforatable at others.
