DICE copying Splash Damage?

Well guys, I'm sure you have all heard about this fabulous new failure called "Battlefield: 2142", another desperate attempt by a miserably bad company to make some profit.

Anyway, I just wondered if you guys noticed how similar this game is to Splash Damage's "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars"?

Now, Splash damage introduced ET:QW months ago, before DICE even released their cryptic statement about 2142, and way before DICE announced 2142 was being made. Therefore, Enemy Territory was the first to come up with the idea, and the first to come up with the content.

Now, several months after the ET:QW trailer was released, and the idea was out, DICE is now making 2142. Now, it's not so much the fact both games are in the future, it's that they look almost exactly the same:

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Battlefield 2142

---

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Battlefield 2142

Now, it's important to remember, the ET:QW screenshots were taken back in May of 2005. The Battlefield 2142 screenshots, however, were released just a few days ago.

In my opinion, this is some lame-ass attempt by DICE to copy Splash Damage, and release their game first, preventing another game from gaining popularity. Of course, DICE just announced the release of 2142, and no doubt it will be released first, because everything DICE makes (With the exception of 1942) is rushed, is full of bugs, and basically sucks.

Splash Damage announed ET:QW almost a year ago, which means they're actually putting some time and thought into it, to prevent a massive, rushed mistake like BF2.

In addition, ET:QW has a really innovative class selection, and new game mode that encourages teamwork, has tons of new features (Such as keeping supply lines open and bulding bases), has better graphics, is built on a better engine, and most importantly isn't made by DICE.

I hope that consumers have the common sense to buy Enemy Territory over DICE's peice of crap BF2142.

Any thoughts?

Sorry for being slow, i just dong get it *cry's, starts munching on a slice of pizza*

2142 is a no, no for me. Makeing a game and still not completed BF2 DICE need to stop thinking about future releases and money and start focusing on there community and finishing games.

Just like IW...

Ehhh I suspect that BF2142 is going to be using the same engine as BF2.

I also suspect that ET:Quakewars is going to be deathmatchy and not very fun, like Unreal Tournament 2004.

I suspect that the two are just turning out very similar-- it seems a logical step for the BF series.

Actually, from what I've heard, the ET:QW gameplay is supposed to be very teamwork-oriented. For example, you have missions such as defending supply lines, erecting defenses and bases, and all the capture points need to be taken in order. Ya' also get cool vehicles that take 2 or more people to operate properly!

Another thing that ET:QW will have over almost all team based fps's is that the teams aren't equivalents of eachother, or so I've heard at least. What I meen is that there won't be a strog support guy who is basically the same as a human support, bad example, I know but it's too late for me to think well.

People seam to jump quickly to what they know, The engine used for ET:QW is not the same as the ET engine or the Quake engine, the game is very heavily teamwork orientated, you cant go wandering on your own because you want have anything to do. The game is objective based (no flags) but instead is territory based.

here's a MS paint drawings for you.

On top of that some objectives require you t destroy something before you can proceed (i.e a key bridge) or defend it, etc.

The game play is quite unique for an online game.

For those who are wondering what engine BF2142 is using, its using the BF engine, that's why they are releasing it so fast.
