I have been saying this for ages. IT IS AN ABOLSUTE COPY, BUY ETQA but not EA/ Dice Crap. THere is a time and a place for games like BF1042 but it is not here on planet earth, in any time period and in this dimention!
PLEAE do a little rtesearch about ETQW and yu will see how many orgianl and brilliant ideas they have - It COULD BLOW BF2 right out of the water, and mabey into space! However i am not saying BF1024566767 will be bad and do not buy it, (i might even be wrong about it going to be a pice of turd but i thorougly dout all of that) i am jsut saying there might/ almost certainly be a better alternative! |

Personally i don't think 2142 is such a bad idea, as someone else said elsewhere companies are made to make money. I think BF in the future would be cool lasers, robots, stuff like that would be an awesome addition to the gamplay we experience in BF2. Maybe its just cause I'm a SciFi fan, but I can't wait for this too be released, QW looks sweet too, but complaining about a company doing its job is just stupid and pointless.

I can't believe there are actually people out there who are looking forward to DICE's brand spanking new pile of steaming crap.

the problem isnt the game, its the fact they are releasing it so soon and that it will contain less content than most of the high quality mods in production. 2142 may not be bad, but i would much rather have something that is better+ its free! all 2142 is is a mod, a mod that you pay for

I think i heard somewhere that they are going to have destructible environment and what not. I then laughed because they said that about BF2...
Probably the mechs, ivisible guys, futuristic weapons, and destructible environment will be taken out because all the cool things that were going to be in BF2 and never made it in because they were lazy. I know for sure I wont buy it unless its very good. |

You are basically talking about any game that comes out. People will only play together to some degree until they get bored or don't want to anymore. And after playing Quake 4, I am not going to really go on their word until the game comes out. With BF2 now, I know that I have the chance to use teamwork, vehicles, and a platora of other weapons. Even though I am not going to believe anyone of the games is better as of yet until I physically play them, I do believe that BF2 has the advantage of being the better game. It took 3+ games to get this far with with BF2 already. The squad aspect, commander idea(basically the first FPS with RTS elements), vehicles on a massive scale, along with the arcade and somewhat real combat, and etc. Think about that the next time you want to bash a game and name one other that has gotten it quite right. It will take a few trys and games for someone to get elements of a game on such as grand scale as BF2 has been unless you take some elements of it. And having enemies/the other team not equvilent to you is a pretty bad idea. Give them some other disadvange such as level design, but making the vehicles or classes imbalanced is a horrible idea. Think Blackhawk. And if you guys actually read the interviews on the game, you will see that they are revamping the class system and respawn/squad leader system. I can not see any game being as good as BF2 or the adjustments announced in BF2124 unless they impliment a respawn system or squad system similar to it. And if you guys don't like BF2, stop bitching and don't play this game or mod.

I'd hardly call BF2 "grand scale". It's pretty damn tiny really. OFP hit the nail on the head in terms of detail, map sizes, combined assault and realism that encouraged team work (if the missions are made well that is). Hell, BF1942 was and still is a far superior game to BF2 in terms of gameplay. It has way more in it without having to buy all the addons and crap. EA/DICE just know that if they advertise it and make a trailer that doesn't show any of the real gameplay and doll it up in photoshop and other post production tools, they'll get it sold, then can go onto making the next sequel or addon ready to milk people again.

Soldier, the only reason I'm playing BF2 right now is for the concept. I like the idea of larger maps and vehicles, and right now BF2 is one just a few games with those things.
However, I don't appreciate the constant patching, the total lack of organization, the airsoft-like guns, the horrible job DICE has done in all of its patches, the chaotic and rambo-style Conquest system, the lack of objectives or tactics -- the list goes on and on. Project Reality brings to BF2 so many things that 'nilla is missing, and allows us, the player-base to help shape and change the mod. However, I think that a game should already include this stuff, and not require a mod to get it right, and that's why I'm looking forward to Enemy Territory. You seem to be under the assumption this is another "Quake" game, however it's not, it just follows the storyline of Quake. The game objectives in ET:QW are new, and have never been used before. They're based around intense teamwork, and are something tactical for a change. Although it is possible, I doubt Splash Damage is lying about all this. |

now now let's see this from a point of view that is more relevant to the PRMM's future.
is BF2142 based on BF2 engine? if so then they are instantly out of the picture, judging from the issues with modding the game with BF2 and the limited stature, i think it's safe to say that if they uses the same engine with the same limitation that PRMM should look else where for the future. ET.QW is an interesting one, the engine capability list includes object components, ie: u blast a future HMMVE's tire and the tire goes off leaving the vehicle intact minus one wheel, if this really works out to be what it says, it will instantly solve all these damn irritating balancing problem we have. And it will make vehicle combat FAR more interesting and realistic. but in the end i think it's all a big IF, we'll judge it when it comes out. oh, and so ppl can compare the trailer: ET.QW: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPE6v...my%20territory BF2142: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaNN-...&search=BF2142 PS: i just realized something.... the gunship vs jeep chase sequence is quite similar as well... hmmmm.... no... that can't be... or can it? |
