Wow.. ET: QW looks pretty hot. I'd probably get both to be honest.

actually dice made a statement long time ago, that they are gonna release special forces and than another add-on will follow - this was even before the addon was split up into two booster packs - and they also stated in that news that a new battlefield is already scheduled for the end of 2006

i really wonder why all people are so excited about that, it has been announced months ago! (even though, it only was the talk about a new bf, not a sci fi one)

and well, i donīt think they copied much.
k, they got mechs, well battletech got mechs for years, so did qw rip fom battletech? - of course not

I knew DICE was working on a new project after 2 months of BF2 being out as they told dan that, but they wouldnt tell him what the project was. Also plz note that the BF2 Editor was not out at this time and wasnt for a long time after...

good point, which the same you could ask for most every mech game - people (mostly like me) have dreamt of piloting mechs whether you call em Hercs (Starsiege) or whatever they called em in Mechwarrior (played MW 4 but cant remember ), and before that too - at the least since the early 80s or so, or even back to the 60/70s when Star Wars first came out

I may well go with BF2142 since so far, no matter how crappy EA/DICE's business ethics, questionable dev techniques/crappy engine and all - I think the battlefield series as a whole has the best integration of infantry and vehicles I have seen in any game - UT only got vehicles as of (iirc) 2003, OFP is about the only other game I've seen besides the battlefield series to show the big picture of infantry, armor, aircraft, and various other vehicles, but it could be kinda a pain to use em (for me anyway) - on a usable scale that isnt too insanely huge that you cant just get on a multiplayer server and start killin

It sure looks like 2142 is on the same engine as BF2 - looking at the way the people move, but I heard a little while ago that the BF2 engine could not use walkers (which is why a mod team are now using ET:QW for it) but 2142 has walkers... mysterious.

If I had a penny for every game that was supposed to be teamwork-oriented, I'd be a very, very rich man. And isn't 2142 supposed to be humans versus humans, not humans versus <insert alien race here>?

The mechs weren't really what I was trying to stress, it's the soldier uniforms. They're almost exactly the same.

ET:QW released their trailer in May of 2005, months before BF2142 was even announced, so there's no way that Splash Damage could have copied DICE.

Honestly, I would rather take Splash Damage's word that this is going to be a "teamwork based game", rather than get BF2142, which I know will not be anywhere near "teamwork based".

Do some reading on ET:QW guys, the objective and zone system is exactly what we're all looking for, and it sounds simply awesome. I highly doubt Splash Damage will change the game so much it becomes like Unreal Tournament between the time they announced the game objectives and the release date.

And you know that BF2142 is going to be just another game based on the HORRIBLE Battlefield 2 engine, and will consist of nothing besides total mayhem, no teamwork, and no flag-cap order or any organization whatsoever.

Hell, Quake2 was team-oriented, they had capture the flag . Of course, I know little about this game, but what I was getting at when I was comparing it to UT2k4, is that I think (but hope not) that it could very well end up a game of jumping and strafing around your opponent, UT2k4-style.

BF2 would be considered tactical even, when compared to a plethora of other games-- many games don't even have a prone or ironsights feature.

I guess what I worry about with this game, in short, is that one headshot won't do the trick-- that sort of thing.

Well, the Galatic Conquest team had...limited success with Walkers.

I think they stole the mechs from mech warrior and mech assault

Some people wonder if they have made a difference in this world. Marines don't have that problem
