Re: Red Orchestra is $4.99 on Steam right now
Well buy it without any expectation for teamwork and realism. Its even cheaper than a pack of cigarettes so why do u ask?But since u ask here are some negative things about RO
a)first of all, yeah mostly one shot u die/kill however since maps are small and respawn waves are short, the guy u killed will be back to kill u in around 30 seconds. b)nadespam, lots of maps consist of nade spam choke points, nearly half of the all kills are from nades in certain maps which doesnt take any skill or timing,u just lob them in to general direction of enemy and get lots of kills c)Nades overrated. It takes almost 1 second switching from hipshooting mode to IS mode while it only takes 1.5 sec to switch to nade.In 3 seconds u can switch to nades and drop 2 of them.General principle in RO is wtf bother trying to aim with your bolt rifle instead of dropping two nades while running left and right?? d)tracers, they have the ugliest stupidest tracers built in RO.They look like sperms/comets,really,and they are only good for giving away your MGs position and blocking your view(you=the guy firing with MG).And most of the time u get shot after firing a 3 second burst by some rifleman thx to those MGs. e)tank combat, lol pure bullshit, where to begin,ok a 4 kg of explosives destroy a tank within 20 meters range, tanks have hit points,u can fire main gun then switch to hull mG then drive away without any delay.U can operate a tank alone very effectively, infact its more effective than operating it with a teammate, really. Also there is this stupid thing called in RO,"angling",which is keeping your enemy at your 11 1 7 and 5 o'clock.Suddenly ,if u have a decent tank all the rounds fired at u start to bounce off, including panzerfaust shots within 2,yes two meters.Even saw Ap rounds bouncing off tanks, hitting the top back of engine grid.Ffs there isnt even any armor at that place. f)Snipers, there are 2 snipers per side almost on all of the maps, which means u cant have a decent long range firefights or firing/dealing with a MG without them interfering, and they are effective as the AWM in CS. g)U cant effectively fire with any weapon without resting to somewhere, when u aim crouching standing with your rifle, without resting ,u only have,-get ready- 1 or 2 seconds before the sway comes in and fcks up your aim. However u get no aim penalties for running and gunning or for nades as mentioned above. And all the ranges of every weapon is nerfed except bolt action rifles, but u can lob nades up to 50 meters.I quit playing because of this nade frenzy. |

Re: Red Orchestra is $4.99 on Steam right now
a) Its sad but its true. But normal it takes a little bit more time
b) There is a nadespam but normaly just on the start of a rushmap like Danzig. After this you dont get killed so often by a nade. c) See b) German nades need more time to use. d) Never had such problems with the tracers e) 4Kg explosives are ok. The range isnt also so high for killing a tank. But it is for inf But you are right its sad that you are better if you drive your tank alone. But RO dont give you the same possibilities like BF2 do. You cant make a squad, that mean if you talk to your driver or guner the whole team will hear you. Just think about it if 25 guys talking. Its Horrible. And this angling is the best thing with the tanks. With this you can defeat better tanks if you use yours better. So the skilled player will win f) Come on you say this like there is a real sniper problem. You can kill almost every sniper with your rifle. Because of the "small" maps. g) Wut if you run around and if you try to aim, your weapon will move very hard. So that nearly every shot will miss. Exept this damn hipshooting and nades Btw. the hipshooting was my reason who made me stop playing the game for a while. |

Re: Red Orchestra is $4.99 on Steam right now
I played this.
It was the beginning of RO-Ostfront. After the dev team won a prize which was the engine and a lot of money they made redorchestra ostfront. The mod version was in some points more realistic as RO now is. I would still play the mod version but there are nearly no players |

It had mod (at least the version i played had) but they were total idiots.
And if you are able to play ut 2004 without problems the mod RO shouldnt be a problem. But its like with every mod it reequire a little bit more |
