Re: Yet another computer advice thread :P
Rather than start a new thread, i'll invade this one
I'm also looking to upgrade now, as my PC is really getting on a bit! I can play PR medium-high still but other games do suffer, and i'd really like to play some modern games now, Assassin's Creed, Crytek, and Fallout 3 with good graphics. I havn't kept up to date with components the past few years, so would really appreciate some help! My system is : Athlon XP 3000+ (yes, embarassing, but still survives!) A7N8X motherboard XFX 7800GS AGP XFi XTrememe Gamer (this can stay) 1.5gb ram |

Re: Yet another computer advice thread :P
Well, with these components a brand new PC will come out cheaper then trying to do some upgrades.
What's your budget? |

Re: Yet another computer advice thread :P
OK, well I figured seeing as I need an upgrade, and i've run into some money, I may as well make it worth it, to keep me going to years to come. How does this sort of thing sound -
CPU - AMD Phenom X4 9950 2.6GHz Black Edition Socket AM2+ 125W 4MB L2 Cache (512KBx4) Retail Boxed Processor - Ebuyer Mobo - Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H 780G Socket AM2+ onboard VGA 8 channel audio mATX Motherboard - Ebuyer GFX - XFX 9800GTX+ Black Edition 512MB DDR3 Dual DVI HDTV Out PCI-E Graphics Card - Ebuyer Ram - OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800Mhz/PC2-6400 Memory GOLD DUAL CHANNEL Unbuffered CL5(5-5-5-1 Comes to about 450. The PSU I have is only a few months old, and is 600W. Will this support this rig? I know the components are good, but I can't help but feel i'm getting one of the best processors to put with a mid-range GFX card. Is this the case? |

Re: Yet another computer advice thread :P
Why go with Phenom?C2D is still the king in bang4buck, Q6600 is better then phenom if you really want quad cores.

Re: Yet another computer advice thread :P
Are they Intel? Yeah i've never gone with Intel. I'd be more than happy too though if I was recommended.
