Like I said the 9800 does NOT work with Falcon 4 and AA. The 8800 DOES, due to drivers being different. The hardware may be the same but the drivers that run them are not.

Can you not just roll back the driver?

I bought the sapphire hd 4850 Toxic and i am deadly happy with it
Running Crysis on High 20-60 fps
On very high 10-30 fps
Also other games give really good fps

my system amd x2 4400+ (2.3 ghz per core)
2 gb ram ddr 2 833mhz
asus m2a-vm mobo

I just got my 4850 at the weekend - I get a 3dmark score of 12675 now even with my crappy E6550 processor. Im very happy with it too.

Unfortunately no. The 9series+ cards drivers start at 177.xx the 8series cards can use drivers that go back to the 169.xx sets. Somewhere after the 175.xx something changed and breaks falcon4. Which means people with 9 series can't play it because they can't use the old drivers as they don't support those cards. And if you use the 178.xx or newer drivers in an 8 series it won't play falcon4, but this can be solved by using the older drivers.

Just installed the 8600GT sold to me by Spacemanc...so far so good

Just gotta test it out ingame now.
