I could swear that I read/saw somewhere that firing the .50 cal sniper rifle (Barrett M107 ?) rapidly did something to you internally.

It does. it breaks the blood vessels in your arm near where the butt stock was.

Also known as bruising. Evey rifle does this to some extent.

.50 BMG handguns? Are you sure you don't mean .50 Action Express or another .50 pistol caliber? Firing a heavy machine-gun cartridge from a handgun sounds like a dumb idea.

Only because the round is longer than a normal handgun... Its ok if the tip is sticking out of the end a little of the barrel isn't it?
