Last I heard it was still speeding up...probably takes a bloody long time to get to the speed of light you know?

Well from what I can understand is that the Protons and Lead Ions can't be speeded up to 100% the speed of light. In fact they are only being speeded up to 99.9% speed of light because anything with mass cannot be sped up that fast

From what I can gather (Only what I have read) it is pretty safe. I mean even some of the posts here tell us that there is only a really miniscule chance of a black hole.

I find this stuff, worrying at first, then after finding out a lot more about it I'm actually quite interested in this experiment.

99.99% of the speed of light is still pretty...pretty fast...last .01% doesn't make a huge amount of difference
