Link to all your LHC questions and advanced physics.
Also, read some books by Leonard Susskind, Gerard 't Hooft, and of course Hawkings. Most of their books are accessible to those who only did up to highschool physics. it will answer why black holes are not possible in the LHC, why the finding of the Higgs or the lack of Higgs is important (i would suggest Susskinds book, Black Hole War as a starter). Physics is the top most rung of sciences. To think that were only providing £5bn to this endeavor is saddening. /the internet that we used today can be directly traced to research and development that was going on in CERN //Every piece of info and data from LHC can be obtained from thier website. This is a fully transparent experiment that people should be proud of having completed. |

CERN scientists have admited that the creation of a mBH is possible, but they say it is highly unlikely, which is even cited in an injunction to keep it from being turned on which was filed in the European Court, but was dismissed the other day; along with another injunction that is still pending a hearing for today I believe. Dr. Otto Rossler and Dr. Rainer Plaga both think it is not only possible but plausible that a mBH could be created. The bottom line is no one knows or has any level of certainty what will happen when they start doing real tests, and when the possible results include things like a mBH, it's easy to see the concern people have.

If the universe ends I'm going to personally kick the guy's ass who came up with the idea for this thing.

Here, let me give you this formula:
creation probability * born with no velocity probability * doesn't evaporate probability * accumulates mass probability = ohshitblackholeslol probability Creation probability: collision between particles creating massive densities (ie. being combined rather than smashing apart) at near the plank scale. But at and around the plank scale quantum physics is not applicable, so black hole theories are not applicable. The ideas behind black holes being created is so convoluted it might not even be possible. No velocity probability: two objects hitting each other and ending up with no velocity... Once the black hole is created, if it is created, it will have a velocity and within the LHC were talking about near light speed. So by the time it evaporates, its probably out of our solar system. No evaporation: The smaller the black hole the hotter it is. Heat means it gives off something. Giving off something means its getting smaller. The LHC while large deals with particles at the quantum scale... so if it is created its tiny and hot and giving off more heat evaporating to nothing. Accumulates mass: gravity (the weakest force in the universe) of the black hole is proportional to its size. At the quantum scale, the mBh attracting anything is nigh impossible. Plus any object that provides the black hole with mass has to be within its event horizon to be trapped. By the time anything even gets attracted close enough to the event horizon, its probably evaporated. Each and every one of those probabilities are tiny. So do the math and make you decision. |

Mad-Mike - Good photo's but why do u have 2 threads that are the same?
[R-CON]ReadMenace - Are you referring to the obvious double-post or the less obvious, high-resolution military photographs thread? To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. |

i swear to god i will beat the living poo out of the person who came up with this if it does go wrong and blackhole is formed and stuff coz i dont want to go with out my phone and knowing i was going to get it tomorow.
