The guy's got a point but he's also an idiot. There's no way those tech support guys are authorized (or probably even able) to put a DVD in the post to him, and frankly it's not bloody surprising that they wanted dxdiag logs off him. How else were they supposed to ensure that he was running Vista64 and using a 64-bit CPU etc? Just take his word for it?

Shouting and getting angry is the quickest way to get closed down by a tech/customer support rep. ALWAYS, your best option is to stay calm, stay reasonable and just out-wait the bastards.

Then use the length of time it took to deal with your issue as a formal complaint and get an apology and compensatory payment out of them

My Avatar explains my feelings about EA in general, let alone there 'tech support'. The amount of crap I had with them when my BF2 CD Key got me banned because I was hacking...even though I hadn't played online at that point due to a small dial up problem (dial up was the problem).

OK, I do understand that the demand of a DVD copy of the game is a little crazy, but what the EA "Support" guys are doing is even worse.

I have my own experience with the Czech EA "Support" and I can assure you they're no better.

My problems was really simple and 90% of PR players had it as well - the game stopped responding to any keyboard or mouse input once in game.

Guess what they told me to do in the end.

To reinstall Windows!

I mean WTF?

(for those who don't know all you have to do is reset the game's controls to default)

Turn 360 degrees and walk away is what you should do tbh.

Your avatar, whilst it may sum up your feelings of EA, was pretty inappropriate for this forum. Nazi imagary isn't welcome, even if you're trying to make a point about EA.

Also, get a sense of proportion - WW2 =/= Shit Tech Support.

well, the swastika is originally an Asian symbol for happiness so your feelings towards EA are happy?

I fear tech support more then I fear death, So far all my problems have been solved by googling the error and finding the solutions on some deserted forum on the forgotten side of the internetz.

A good example was when I couldn't find a way to recalibrate my old logitech wireless joystick, I was looking around on logitechs tech support FAQ and searched for my joystick and problem and found their solution to my problem. I had to download a program that cleared all the calibrate cache and then reinstall everything, I did that 3 or 4 times, no results.

Googled it, and found a lot of people with the same joystick and the same problem, turns out that you can't calibrate it yourself and have to send it back to the factory to either get it recalibrated there or get a new one. Now why didn't they say that on their website?

I Haven't touched that joystick since, and am now a happy owner of a X52 joystick which I can calibrate myself without having to send it halfway around the globe.

... ... ... Wow, no wonder I don't get Digital copies of games. How much did he pay for that digital copy?

He'd have paid full retail (plus some more, since EA is expensive).
