They shot him in the ass and what even worse - they not paid his fee... BIG MISTAKE!
[everything blowing up] So I've got Mercenaries 2, played it yesterday evening and found it pretty good sandbox. Graphics are not hi-end, but good-lookin' for such a huge game. I just don't get how to set 1680x1050 in widescreen mode. Sound of explosions from my 5.1 blowed my neighbour's minds so they threatened me with police, SWAT, sanitars from asylum and eternal tortures in Hell - that means sound effects are nice. One thing about dialogs - why the heck Peter Stormare's voice sounds only in game and not in cutscenes? Music - not impressing, good for ambient and that's all. Best choice to turn on your favourite media player in the background and play your music. For getting in Mercenaries mood, start your playlist from nice and relaxing "Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart". Gameplay - you already know, military sandbox. GTA with running skyscrapers into the ground, one of the best ways to relax after hard day. Controls - I'm used Logitech Chillstream and still don't understand why system and games think I've got 10 buttons when there are only 8 of them on the pad. Anyway, buttons 9 & 10 bound to binocular and sprint which I don't need, cause I like to see enemy through reticle and run only forward in no hurry. I'm not playing any games lately, only exception is PR, but this game is worth bying and spending some happy hours in pro-Hollywood madness. |

Spray & pray won't really help you in coop mode. So yes, there is some kind of tactical gameplay in M2.

Really? generally with these type of games more guns = more funs! Kinda link in 'Army of Two'. When ever me and my brother played that, the more we shot at anything that might have moved once in its life we always got payed more.

Actually, I mean "Army of two" too.
I guess you are taking words "tactical gameplay" too seriously. It's not PR, ArmA, OFP or something like that - tactics you can have in "Mercenaries" or "Army of Two" are way more simple: covering partner with sniper rifle while he making assault and stuff; make hit & run and when crowd of raging bots will follow you - waste'em all with airstrike. M2 just can't offer you deeper gameplay, simply cause and it's not what this game about. |

It may not be going for realistic, but I've rarely seen shooting systems this bad, it's even worse than .8 deviation! I've killed more people sprinting around and meleeing them to death. Other than that it's a fun game.

Issues:
1)driving feels like shit, it feels more like boats skitting across water then a semi-trailer driving on asphalt. 2)weapons don't feel satisfying to shot, seriously. 3)graphics..namely - the resolution! Its bugged beyond belief, I can't change the resolution to higher then 1000x700[..] and I have a 19inch widescreen with native 1400x900 resolution. |
