Is it fast ?
yes, compared to a dial up

right now it's going at 40k/b that's on the fat cable line (1.5MBytes/sec)
that is 12-14 hours just for 1 file (core)
basically the torrent should be out before this finishes

Can you dl many files at the same time?
No, one at a time

Do you need any particular software to use the fileplanet?
Yes, I.E.5x or higher and an activeX "download manager" that spins the ads and
possibly sends your private info back

Is it worth using?

I'm getting 800kb/s max, averaging around 600, Level Pack from US, East Coast.

It's failed on me a couple times although a new UK server has just appeared for the Mod Core.

I only had to wait around 35 mins before download.

Also it looks like it "stops" DLing when minimized ? anyone else is getting this ?

This gets better:
30 minutes into it
the damn thing is shoing 35 minutes "waiting"
So it failed the downloaded and put me back in the end of the line up
The same line up that I already waited for ~ an hour 1 earlier
What a piece of shiit

How many times is it going to do that?

Someone else can find out, I've had enough

Cannot agree here.

Except for a problem with one of the 2 files, where I had to restart it and wait for another 40 minutes, I have finished downloading the first one (Levels->1.2 Gb) and now I am downloading Core (1.5 Gb) at a constant speed of 500-600 Kb/s. I am located in Spain, and we are not famous for having the best internet connections in the world.

BTW, try the 'East Coast - USA' link for both files, in my case, the 'Mid-West - USA' link failed.

Yes I have to agree,it gotten much better later on.
In all fairness FilePlanet is not that bad

Works much better than FilePlanet for me.

I don't remember the last time I was able to download something from there...
