Military service stories are a lot like fishing stories; you tend to exaggerate everything so much that when you actually have a really juicy one to tell, nobody will believe you!

well then you better get over that quick if you want to do Force Recon.

I want to do USAF Pararescue and need to get my Water Confidence down.

errm british army hear,

first PT session was a babtisom of fire, or should i say ice, having to do press ups, sit ups ect in 6 inches of snow was awsome

oh another good one, lad on my basic was a jamaican lad, we were living in the field for 2 weeks, its pissing down of rain and its freezing, he comes out with this in a propper jamaican accent, hey man im from jamaica i dont do this whole rain and cold thing can we not do our training in a walm country since thats were we is going to war. i was pissing my self laughing made them 2 weeks rather fun.

and the theres the pasty challenge, we were on the ranges and we got given the horror bags, i belive the devs have had them before since i have see the pics of there vist to see all the tanks and shiney things anyways them pastys are the dryest most revolting things you can eat, so we had a race between the sections i was representing 2 section and i won one of the other guys threw up since he was eating to fast and the others just couldnt finnish.

then the naked mile around the air field, boots and S10 resperaters only dont know why we did it but i think it was on a weekend r+r and we had just come back from a night out.

i have many good storys but alot of them are from once i had passed and going on to further training.

In more special units its often very importet not to have any fobies.

And didn't they cancel the Force recon program?

Anyway you should start training as soon as posible if you want to make it into a unit like force recon I been training for almost 1.5 years now to join the swedish rangers and im doing my try out the 9/22 and im really not sure if I will make it, well if I fail at that I will try for recon.

Nope force recon is still alive and kickin.

Well really im not that much afraid but if i stay in the air for to long i will get nervous, anyway i believe marine force recon is more water based operators than air.

And ive been training for 5 months i got 3 1/2 years to go so ill be fine, hopefully lol

I have to also get over a slight fear of heights, but I am not going for any special unit or even the Marines. Good luck you should be squared away by the time all that time is up.

Yeah Force Recon is still a go but now they have MARSOC which is a special forces branch of the Marine Corps. You will still have phobias but you will learn to over come them. That's what bootcamp is good for, over coming your fears. There is more things to fear than heights brother ;D

I am not afraid of heights per se but I'm not a fan of dangling high in the air with no support. During our first confidence course there was an obstacle known as the sky scraper. Essentially its 3 platforms stacked on top of each other that are about 7-8 feet apart. You have to jump up, grab the ledge and try to hoist yourself up. You aren't secured to anything so if you let go, you fall. My voice was gone from yelling "YES SIR! KILL!" every 5 seconds. When I got on the 2nd platform trying to get onto the 3rd I was freaking out. There was a drill instructor there but he was paying attention to all the other recruits. I kept yelling "HELP HELP" but my voice was so worn out it was like a whisper. Finally he turns around "GET THE FUCK UP THERE!" "SIR THIS RECRUIT CAN'T, I'M GONNA FALL AND DIE!!" "Ha, son, if you fall from here the padding will protect you. You won't die, you'll probably be paralyzed or be in a world of serious pain. I'd get the fuck up there!" *10 seconds later I flip over the top* I felt so much achievement from doing that. Scared the crap out of me!
