Irish Music someone know some good Bands?

Hello lately I'm listerning to Irish music, does anyone have any good recommendations? since there are so many people from the UK here I thought this would be the best place to ask.

I only know The Pogues (great band ) and I've heard of The Dubliners.

Someone have good tips?

Thanks in advance.

the Pogues are not an Irish band their from London but I know what you mean.. you could try the Dropkick Murphys an american band with a pogues feel to them, or from way back in the day bands like the Undertones or Stiff Little Fingers..

Yeah, dropkick murphys.

They woke us up at West Point with dropkick murphys playing REALLY loud so whenever I hear it I get a kick of adrenaline. Wasn't any bad songs though.

Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys are pretty much the only thing you'll need once you listen to them.

Those two were the only thing i listened to for like a good 4 months.

I suggest starting out with
Flogging Molly: Drunken Lullabies
Dropkick Murphys: The Singles Collection (1 and 2), or Warriors Code.

loreena mckennitt is the go to goddess of anything Celtic, she got several hundred tracks by now. Some of the most beautiful Celtic masterpieces has been done by her.

John Tams isn't Irish, but one of those Folk musicians that's been playing since the 60's and does some stunning work. He did the Sharp soundtrack.

If this John Tams song does not give you a lump in your chest, I don't know what will.

One of loreena mckennitt's most famous balads (written by Alfred Noyes). The Highwayman, the lyrics is beautiful and is a good story.

It is about a Highwayman who comes riding to the inn on his horse to meet his love, just to hear a shot, she has killed herself by throwing herself on a rifle to warn him that soldiers are awaiting him in an ambush ready to kill him.

She got hundreds of songs, worth checking out.

What I love about these two is that they are not as commercial as say Celtic Babes or Enya, they are just great Folk artists made rich and famous through their own work and talent.
