At the time Empire Total War is set, the French Empire is one of the most powerful in the world and all Europe was in fear of invasion, in the Spanish Peninsular war the British expeditionary force along with the Portuguese would never have been able to match the French for sheer numbers; it was only thanks to Napoleon's Russian war and the ferocity of the Spanish partisans that we had a hope at all. And if we had been smashing the French, we would currently Rule France...instead the Norman possessions in France were lost a long time ago and I think its high time to stop waving stories of British long bowmen at a nation that ended up winning many of the bloody wars we had with them.

Well, I'm glad I'm not European. I have no say in the English vs. French contest.

Anyway, this game is right next to PR on my favorite games list, just by the descriptions and screenshots.

I'd say add the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, not just because I'm polish, but because they owned a pretty good chunk of europe.

but isn't the Archduchy of Austria basically the Austro-hungarian Empire? They were pretty big too.
