BTW did you make allies by giving them money? I'm a cheap bastard and AI doesn't seem to like payment in installments.

And has anybody been able to enter an enemy ship and take it? Normally i loose more ships trying to take one then i gain.

to get them to take cover by a wall u need to click the side of the wall u want them to hide on, then hold down and drag til their icons appear. tbh, that really sucks cuz even if u have the correct research only hte front rank fires, better just to put them in 2/3 lines urself behind the wall and pray that the wall catches some of the bullets.

I made them allies by giving them some basic agriculture tech and a 2000 per turn for 10 turns

when they accept the peace its important to follow that up with state gifts, otherwise they'll stab u in the back within 2 turns. then the best way to solifiy the arrangement is to give them a trade agreement (assuming their economy is weaker, i.e. a minor nation) then they should stay at peace for the rest of the game until you steal their land.

ship boarding is completely bugged, I took on a sixth rate with a 2nd rate, I had over twice the crewsize and 3 times the veterancy, while my guys were getting ready to board their cannons kept on pounding me, 5mins later most my men were dead and I aborted the boarding action for fear of them taking my ship and sank the enemy ship. I guess u have to pretty much clear it with grapeshot b4 u board.

TOO much time wasted on this game already. AI is better than all of the proper 3d versions straight out of hte box, but still not great...first game...Prussia gave me Konigsburg for West Prussia (I was Pol-Lith)... o_0 so I took it, built up some troops, and mullered them on H/H.

Second game...I have 25 provinces as GB, still to "incorporate" the 13 colonies...which will be easy, at least 40k income per turn. Next target is to untie Germeny - under the Union Flag. France was taken by turn 3....(along with Canada) and Spain just fell, along with almost all of the important Spanish colonies in NA, SA will be dealt with. The Ottomans and the Russians are Fighting it out, and although Prussia got one over on Austria, (who are down to 2 provinces and keep spamming me with requests for trade rights when they have no port, and I have to pay for the damn priviledge) the Prussians are duelling it out with Pol-Lithuania.

I found excuses to take out both Copenhagen, Berlin and Silesia in one war...the Swedes had taken it from the Danes so I entered on my ally's side and took it for myself. Prussia joined in against me, and thus they lost Silesia and Berlin. Now I have like 6 Classical universities I am almost at the bottom tier of miltary research (1 of the Uni. is in Ceylon...India is looking very tasty) so it should just be a formality of finishing the endgame as my technology is far ahead of everyone else, the 2 remaining powers (Russia and Turkey) are bleeding each other dry. My next targets are all splintered little faction. 25 provinces to go...the year is 1727.

I don't like how destroying a factions home region completely destroys them. I recently wiped France out of Europe but ended up destroying them even though they have quite a few regions in America... Kind of reluctant to take out Madrid now. France and Spain are the only countries who can even dent my empire at only 1725.

I own Madrid and Spain are still alive and kicking, although Gibraltar is still in there hands and packed full of Spanish troops who got dumped there when I took Madrird.

My ally has annoyed me, my 1,200 men took out a 1,800 French field army, re-enforced by the Paris garrison, won and before I had a chance to move in to the city next go, as i was out of movement, the UP ninja'd it

Yeah it appears to take quite a while to pull the two ships together, best to annihilate the guns on one side if you must board but right now it seems pretty pointless. Forcing them to surrender/knocking all their masts off are much easier ways to capture enemy ships.
