Empire Total War - Page 24

Well ive got my hard copy of empires special forces installed (from play.com), but it seems steam has fucked things up a bit, it is essentially stuck on an updating cycle, where it trys to download an update for 3 seconds, and then changes to 'download starting..', and stays at that. Additionally, when i try to launch it, it comes up with the error, 'this game is not available, please try again later'.

crazy shizz, im gonna see if its sorted by tomorrow.

Also, anyone in the UK who bought empire total war from steam as a download is a complete nutter and has been con'd, they were trying to sell special forces for £50, without a special bonus unit, and game, amazon and play sold it at £35, with respective bonus units.

I left it DLing overnight, its been downloading SOMTHING, this game is destroying my download limit

guess how far its got?

This could all have been avoided with a simple f**king pre-load. I'm done in about 20 minutes no idea if it will work or not though. Steam is such a joke.

Some tips for inexperienced Steam users.

Close steam, go into your Program Files/Steam and find the file ClientRegistry.blob
rename it to ClientRegistryOld.blob and restart.

Try messing around with your download region in Steam itself. File -> Settings -> Downloads. I was getting 40kbs max in UK. I switched around and Western Russia and India were giving me 250kbs. Trying to find a region that gives you good speeds will help a lot.

Installed now via good ol CD... but Steams saying its unavailable when i try to run it grrr!

Edit: Seems even with a hard copy it downloads a file before it will run. With the servers so full it can take ages. I just changed my download preference in the settings and it started
