Downloading from trusted sources.., never use POP3, can file transfers from other ppl and youll never need an AV.... Its been proved time and time again that free AV's are never infallible, never put your trust in one application, itll be your downfall.

Education and caution are the best anti-virus techniques to use rather than the fallasy of single click security.

I concur with what others have said AVG 8.0 Free is the way to go...

With a dash of common sense from M4nicMin3r, don't needlessly help open yourself to online threats. I also keep Vista fresh with the latest updates and Windows Defender defs. My system runs clean and quick.

Anti viruses suck, prevention is better than cure I say.

Just do what I do and use Zone Alarm, very good free firewall and then you will never get any viruses on your PC unless you allow them on yourself.

Re: Free Antivirus, which ?

Gonna have to disagree with ya there Rhino, I used Zone Alarm for a 3 month period and found it to be as suffocating as one of the bloated pay-for-AV suites (McAfee, Symantec, etc)...I say if your protection S/W impedes system performance to a noticable degree then in some sense its just as bad as the things its trying to protect you from. So again, due diligence and prudent web surfing are the best ways to keep yourself from getting screwed over.
