Graphics Card Installation Help

Hey, I got a new graphics card today, a Nvidia 8600gt. The problem is when I put the card in my comp, it wont show up. I uninstalled my old one, but it still says I have no graphics card. I'm 100% my computer has the requirements for the graphics card. Anyone help please???
thanks <3

Re: Graphics Card Installation Help

Gunna need a little more information than that, mate:

1) Motherboard make, model and revision
2) Operating system version

------------

In the mean time, some general tips:

1) Make sure the graphics card is fully seated into the PCI express slot. There should be no sign (or very little) of the gold contacts on the graphics card poking up out of the slot
2) Make sure that if the card requires an additional power dongle to be plugged into it, that you've plugged it in.
3) Make sure that you've full uninstalled the old drivers for the other GPU in addition to removing it from Device Manager.
4) Check via the BIOS what is set to be the primary graphics adaptor - make sure any on-board graphics adaptor is disabled.

I've looked into the device manager and there is a problem with conflicting resources. Apparently there isn't enough resources. I get a error "code 12". I googled the error for solutions but it isn't working out.

no, I dont think the power supply is a problem.
This is what the message says.

NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT

Resource settings:
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use.

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

ok. petey.
make sure extra power supply connecter is on there.
disable other display adapters
i dont know how to fix an IRQ problem, in BIOS...
also, set video card adapter to pci-e or pci 2.0 x16 or whatever it is supposed to be in your BIOS
also, use driver cleaner. it works .google it and follow instructions.
something about using it in safe mode.
