I did a quick search and there were no threads for us forum dwellers to come check out what games others are playing. So the point of this thread is to recommend any game for any system that you think is worth checking out.
I'll start.... KANE&LYNCH Dead men: Multi platform When KANE&LYNCH was first announced there was a lot of hype built up for this game but this game seemed to have gotten mixed reviews from everywhere so i decided to pick it up my self. The main thing about this game is the story and characters. Its nothing ground breaking but damn it if its not entertaining. A few plot twist here and there and some of the coolest locations i've ever played a game in makes for a fun experience. The graphics are not great(not bad at all either) but they get the job done and the same can be said about the play mechanic. The biggest down side to this game is the length. The ending was great IMO but when i realized it was over i was a little pissed. You will only get about 7 hours of play from this game. The online is fun(kind of a cops and robber kind of thing), but only for a few hours. All in all i'd say if you ever find your self with nothing to do on that rainy weekend day, go rent it. You wont regret it. Forza Motorsport 2: Xbox 360 I think every racing fan who owns a 360 was aware of this game coming out and it sure doesnt let you down. Over 300 cars and many many tracks and races to compete in. Im not a big fan of racing games at all. Especially simulators. So when i got this game i was not to excited at all but to my surprise i soon find my self playing and playing.....and playing.... and playing. The graphics are as good as they get and the mechanics for the game is brilliant. Each car handles in its own way and will have you carefully picking your cars before a race. Sadly this excitement did not last long for me and that brings me to its only problem IMO. There is to damn much to do!!! When i play a game i like to, one day this month, beat it and get that sense of accomplishment. With this game it seems to take FOREVER!!! And the worst part is that it is essentially the same thing, go forward and turn. In the end i would say, if you are a fan of racing then maybe you should get this game but if not stay away because there is just no way you will stay entertained long enough to beat it. Ok thats it for now. I will be back later with a few more. NOW PR COMMUNITY BRING ON SOME REVIEWS!(no spoilers) |

Just an overview...
Silent Storm: PC Silent Storm is described as a, "turn-based tactics with RPG elements" that was released in 2004. I just recently installed it and it's a great game. The engine is amazing with the destrutible environments, shoot through walls, destroy a wall to get to your enemies, and ragdoll effects. The sound is nice, with the bullets hitting materials, the rain and thunder, and the weapon sounds. Not sure if they're exactly realistic, but it's all good. The voices are a downer and there are plenty of stereotypes in the game (Google the game reviews and you'll see what I mean). The game is a little tedious at times waiting for your enemies' and allies' turns but I guess that is the point of the game; to see what is going on at all times. Gamespot voted Silent Storm, "Best Game No One Played," in 2004. Since the game was released in 2004, the game would be pretty hard to come by these days. |

The entire Ace Combat series: PS2, XBOX 360
The Ace Combat series is the only real choice for fighter jocks like myself to get their fix on console so its an obvious buy for anyone like me. It also doesnt hurt that they are great games. The graphics in Ace combat have always been top notch when they came out(with 6 still being beautiful on the 360) so you will not be disappointed in that respect. The story in Ace Combat IMO has always been absolutely AWESOME. Most notably in part 4 and 5 and less so in Zero and 6 but none the less its there and it really adds a lot to the experience. Some might disagree but i would like to remind you that these are fighter jet war games(cant use the word "sim". You will see why later) and so the story is great for this kind of game. All of the planes and weapons (even if they dont always act to realistic) are absolutely, no holds bar, awe inspiring realistically created in the series, adding to the eye candy. All of the jets handle as you would expect them to relative to each other but i cant really say weather or not they are realistic but that doest really hurt this game because it is in fact an ARCADE jet fighter game, not a sim. That brings me to the down side of the game. Its an arcade style game. Your planes are able to hold a ridiculous amount of ammo for their weapons and often you find your self unrealistically out numbered by quite a bit(not that it matters, you are a one jet air force). Lets just pray that one day they decide to tackle the realistic side of air combat. If you can put to sleep that military enthusiast inside of you long enough to enjoy this game you will have a absolutely great time with it. Part 4, 5 and Zero(PS2) are so cheap now that if you like air combat, you owe it to your self to give it a try. Part 6, the newest installment, can be found on the Xbox 360 and IMHO is worth a pick up too because the replay value is endless and not because of online but because of the epicness of the single player campaign. Every time you watch dog fight or see a military movie with some air combat, you will find you self going back to play this game. Trust me. EDIT: oh and i thought i would get this out of the way.... GTA IV: Xbox 360, PS3 Sex The only bad part is sex. In conclusion, sex. |

Kane and Lynch is great. But terrible. But brilliant.
I wrote quite a bit of nonsense about it on my blog Bourne Conspiracy Demo It's out now on the Xbox Marketplace. I tried it, it's great fun. It's very much 'on rails' and there are a lot of cutscenes and quick-time-events. But it's good fun. I might rent it. Rise of Nations Quite an old game, but I started playing it at the weekend. And it's brilliant! It's like Age of Empires but with all the micromanagement of resources cut out, as well as all the other crap. It's a really good RTS. Sins of a Solar Empire A stunning RTS. I wrote yet more nonsense about it on my blog, but i'll condense it here: It's a great game, truly wonderful. Try the demo and buy it! |

Hidden And Dangerous 2!
Is quite an old game, but it was way ahead of its time, where you had 4 men of the British SAS doing covert and combat operations in all theatres of war..online play is fun too!, the game lets you swim with scuba diving gear on missions where you have mini-submarines and climb over walls or obstacles!, steal enemy vehicles such as trucks n cars or even a german TIGER tank!!. its worth buying, the graphics aren't that brilliant but!, it still is a pretty good game, try searching it on Yahoo or google, it kinda reminds me of Call Of Duty etc!. |

Shadow Company: Left For Dead: An old gem that was pretty much overlooked, it's a TPS where you control a group of mercenaries through several missions with full control over the merc roster, weapons, etc. You can go through the missions in whichever way you please; stealthily infiltrating and accomplishing objectives or a full squad of mercs armed to the teeth, and the objectives can be accomplished in numerous ways. This game is great and people who didn't buy it suck(That means you).
