it is a very long equation. go ahead, look it up in a math book. you'll see. and the 2ab part only applies to (a + b)^2

The 2ab in this case could be (n)(ab)

then you are saying (a+b)^n = a^n +nab + b^n?
take a look at the following: (a+b)^0 = 1 (a+b)^1 = a + b (a+b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2 (a+b)^3 = a^3 + 3a^2b + 3ab^3 + b^3 if n increases by one, then the number of terms in the expanded form also increases by one. let's say n = 42, then the number of terms would be 43. so only if n = 2 would the number of terms be three. look in an algebra or calculus book and you'll find a very long equation. end of discussion |
