Hi,
for the past 3 weeks, me and my friend have been working on our IT project for school. The task was to make a game in Java similar to a Commodore 64 game. We decided to make a version of the original Sim City, calling it "Metropolis" Anyways, we finished, and got 100% on the project. You can download the .jar here (it's 706kb) Metropolis.jar You can just download it, then doable click on it to run it, or you can choose "Open with: Java(TM) Platform SE Binary" to run it directly. To start a city, place a road next to the edge of the map, then add a powerplant and firestation. Then add industry. Pay attention to the demand for the different zones on the left hand side column. For more detailed instructions just go to "Help -> Staring Off..." You can control the speed from the speed menu. Known bugs: - Your city name needs to be exactly 8 characters. Shorter it won't appear, longer it will cut off at 8 characters. This was actually fixed... but my friend forgot to put the newest version when making the jar. - Industry zones won't contract. Again, fixed but he didn't use newest code... |

It works here. It's quite nice.
Edit: I feel kinda bad for destroying the whole forest and the whole lake to make room for more buildings...

Also played here, might be a good idea to expand the world size a bit and resize the PD/FD buildings to one square rather than 4, and change the building blocks to actual buildings ie. residental=small houses, commercial=shops/office, industrial=factory with 3 smokestacks
Other that that I enjoyed playing it |
