Personally I think it's a load of bullocks, nobody would build things that wern't 100% controllable unless of course these were Military Machines as the Military tends to be stupid about these kind of things.
One man's idea, is another man's objection. |

A man does, because he can. The idea that people wouldn't make something that could destroy them isn't sound. People always have and always will make and do things they should not and many object to, because they can. The people who usually object, do not have the power to stop they who can, the against do not provide the funding, or own the labs, they may be in the community but they are only spectators. If it is something that would cause people to freak out, it is done quietly, funded quietly and they do it anyway.
So yes, if we are ever able to create AI, it will be done. All the genetic modification technology, is no doubt being used to make things the world would consider abominations, because people CAN. I think therefore I am, I do because I can. |

this could never happen. the human brain is infinitely more complex than any computer will ever be. Even the best scientists have very little knowledge of how it works.

There is this theory, that you can not make something more perfect than you. However, I think this includes the 'ability' to be perfect. Which means you may have the facilities to be perfect, but don't utilize it(think of genes).
Might be a crock of shit, but who knows. |

Maybe for some things like computations etc. but a computer has no ability for creating art, problem solving (to an extent), or interacting like a human. Those are the things that make us people, things that computers aren't able to do competently at all.
I've never seen a computer mend broken relationships on its own like a human, or created a piece of artwork or a heartfelt poem on its own |

If you understood what quantum means you would see it's potential, right now no, 50 years from now quantum computing will be everything. AI is not impossible, quantum computing is what will give birth to it.
