I see what you are saying about player numbers rhino. I bet that MP is so unpopular because power struggle as a game mode simply sucks. Mods will introduce new game modes that are hopefully better and have more replayability. That is if modding is not insanely difficult and/or buggy.

I considered doing a SP mod.

If a mod is good I will attract players if I can. I know I will be playing it because I enjoyed CnC:TS. I know you Crysis guys where will play as well, as we can organize some games, hop on my TS, and have an epic time.

its a big mix of both. The game's MP gameplay is not refined, but with that also comes some really, really buggy issues etc. Just think about how many things in BF2 work in SP fine but dont work in MP? like for example or chopper engine failures, they work really well in SP, dont have a hope in MP...

now think of that, but times that by around abouts 1/2 of the games main features not working on MP.

Really if your trying to make a MP mod for a SP game, you dont have much going for you. The only reason why Crysis has MP in the first place is because in this day and age you simply can not release a game without some kind of MP part to it.

Power Struggle would be better if it wasn't for EXTREMELY fragile trucks (apparently fixed in the newest patch), and dumb ass players. I actually got told to "shut the fuck up" when I tried to co-ordinate something with my team.
