Arma 1.12 on TG is AWESOME

So i started playing arma online because i actually get playable fps in the new beta patches. I played some evo and stuff and thought it sorta sucked compared to pr.

On sunday i signed up for some passworded TG event and we played coop mission with no respawns. The teamwork and realism was unbelievably awesome. The next day i joined there server again with the other pubbies and found incredible teamwork again.

Where can I get this game for $20-$30 tops?

ir0n_ma1den, please do a lot of reading about the game so you know what to expect.
the game is not for everyone, and it requires a lot of patience and practice, not something you can just jump in and run around or you will be mad you spent your money.
Look back over the last few pages of this off-topic forum to see what I mean.

And seth, you are a good team player man, and I enjoyed running with you the other day. You got some good kills.

I thaught the game was in 1.09?

I have always tryed to get on that server but It always has a password on it and I never get in. the IC battle server.

Actually, our server usually only has a password on Sun. and sometimes Wed. nights. And you can find the password in our ARMA forums. We do that so people will come to the TG site to see what we are about and read the server rules. Helps keep the level of teamplay up, like it does on our PR password nights of Thursday and Sundays.

Please do not post a link to it here, part of looking through the site is the point. Plus, most people just jump on the teamspeak server to get it, and that also helps with the teamplay aspect. Though with the now fixed ingame VOIP, hardly anyone uses teamspeak.

The ingame works how I have always dreamed it would in PR. You have separate channels for global, team, squad, in vehicle, and direct speak so only the people standing next to you can hear you, and it gets quieter the farther you get away from the person talking.

I wsa playing on the server the other night and the direct speech thing was interesting.

After falling off a roof early on in the round (ouch) I flew around as a seagull. When we were down to 4 players left alive moving through a small town clearing out the enemy I couldn't figure where those 4 were and I was racing through the town and heard the direct speech in my locality to the side and thus found them!

Do the bots react to direct speech in the locatlity though? I don't honestly know. Theres a need for hand communication (represented by text there) to avoid enemy being ready for you when you round corners of course.

Thos pics from bamboo look excellent. I've only been playing 1024x758, medium graphics, 2x AA and AF and it doesn't look anything close to that

I have heard that the bad guys can hear the direct speech and will react.
I also just found out that when spectating (not sure if it works when you are a seagull or just spectating players), but you can hit the "T" key and friendlys will show up with a blue glowing dot above them and enemies will have a red. Came in handy the other night on a really awesome mission that started to suck because there was only 1 enemy left, and he was laying down in a really hidden spot.

And Mr.D, I know what you mean about falling off things. I seem to get hurt falling a couple times a week. What really sucks is when you fall and break your leg so you can't stand up and have to craw around for the rest of the mission on your belly.

By the way, the new 9600GT gfx. card is really good for ARMA, and I have seen it as low as $125. There is also a price cut about to happen on it since people don't like that it is priced so close to the 8800GT. Newegg has tons of 9600GT for around $135 after rebates. I just read some reviews the other day and the 9600GT and my card the older 8800GTS 640mb offer about the same performance. So the card I paid $375 for in OCT. is now equal to one that is under $150.

BTW, for the pictures I take I am running everything high, but the things in the right colume of settings are left to normal defult, like the shadows, AA, etc. I might be able to up them, but haven't tried, and I want to keep my FPS high for when I record video. My frames drop to 20-30 when recording with FRAPS. Ouch.

Some people were talking in our forums the other night about my build, and I added it up and I could build my computer now for about $800, while it cost about $1,500 back in OCT. Don't you just love technology.

QFT.., you NEED to play with good gaming mates if the VON isnt enabled on server.., if it is, its much better. The direct chat is freaky sometimes, specially if you have 5.1 surround sound

Try turning on post processing effects

Domination & evolution FTW .., if you got a talented mission editor Arma is amazing.
