Way to be a douche. Not everyone can afford that. And it's one thing to say he should have backed it up, its another thing to say you don't pity him and laugh at him.

Well its either 8 months of work down the shitter or you pay up a bit. Seriosuly, just get the money, if this happaned to me and I didnt have money laying around I probably would work my little ass off to get that money, even if the data woun't benefit me financially. I mean its 8 months of work, that is huge.

other then that like some one else said, yeah you fcuked your self royally, should have backed it up.

Go to a computer store where they have the professional restorers, they will backup all the data and then what you need to do is get an external HDD which usually are smaller in size and less expensive, in whcih to back up all important projects. Ive never needed to do this but alot of my friends have do to a power surge caused by a storm that fired some HDDs. I pity you

DO NOT DO THIS! I don't know if Rhino still thinks it is April 1st but he is trying to fool you.

Best thing you can do is find a professional data recovery service to get it off. If you first want to try yourself do the Ubuntu linux method. The recovery service can run you about $500 or more so...that's a tough situation.

Hopefully in the future you will upload things to your webmail account or to rapidshare for backups.

na it is what I would do before I knew there where such things as specialists out there who do that which recover data which I only heard about in this topic yesterday after my post

I have taken a HDD apart before and put it back together without any problems in the past.

Indeed I know I should have backed it up, but if you don't know someone's financial situation, maybe you shouldn't be a jerk and "laugh" or say I got "OWNED" eh?

I don't think you would appreciate your house burning down, because that's what this feels like.

About opening the HDD, I don't think I could ever get the balls to do that anyways, if I could get it working that way... I have researched this a bit over the last few days...

I will definitely be calling around to see my options...

This data is far to precious to lose (including my projects) so even if I cannot get it fixed this, MONTH. I would keep this thing forever until I can get it recovered.
