Well TBH, I have never been in orbit and while I have seen what I thought was the Curve of the Earth from the top of Camel's Hump in Vermont, I don't really know that the world isn't flat.

But I have faith in science so I'm going to continue to believe that indeed the world is round and revolves around the sun and most of the rest of physics and chemistry.

Even in the 14th century they didn't think the earth was flat. Colombous thought it was pear shaped, and all writings found relating to the subject show people knew it was round.

The 'people used to think the earth was flat' myth is a modern fallicy.

The Catholic Church would like to have a word with you.

If the world was flat, you'd be able to see Mount Everest from pretty much anywhere. That'd be sweeeet.

Thomas Aquinas was alive during the 11th century and he knew the earth was spherical.

only the uneducated people (there were a lot of em during that time) thought the earth was flat

like harrod200 said, it is a fallacy that people thought the earth was flat in the 11th century.

Aquinas was alive during the 13th century .

Certainly, Aquinas did speak of a spherical Earth, but this was before the advent of the printing press and the perponderance of medieval Europe was poor, uneducated and under almost complete control of the Catholic Church. Very few people outside the Church were actually educated.

Heck, didn't Luther and Leo X both find some common ground when people started challenging Biblical ideas about planetary movement and the like?
