Similar kind of thinking behind the design - big and powerful piston engine, relatively heavily armoured, not ultra-manouverable like some of the smaller fighters but still a fast, tough bird. Of course, the Fw-190 is still about 2/3rds the size of the Bearcat lol. The F8F makes the Spitfire and Hurricane look like tiny flies.

and ive been to bovington, like last year, or the year before, took ages to go around all of those tanks, and the display they had on outside was pretty good, seeing proper smoke cover etc, and just watchin the chally go round ploughin through all ditches and going up the hills, loved it

Originally called the SR-17, until the president at the time called it the SR-71, at which point they changed it. Great pics! |
