I'm sure some of you must have seen the video in question floating around youtube I haven't the stomach to post it here so you will just have to find it yourself, well anyways to the list .

Top 10 Reasons US Soldier Threw Puppy Off A Cliff

10. The puppy, after being repeatedly warned, failed to stop at a checkpoint.

Well, BOPE (a military unit from Brazil, formerly Police Special Operations Batallion) shoots dogs in day operations when they need to go up in the "favelas" (ghettos) at night. That's because the dogs barf at them at night, revealing their position to drug dealers.

No disrepect mate, but that puppy didn't look so rabid though. I think the puppy was still alive by the way it moved slightly when tossed even though the dog hangs limp when grabbed by the scruff. I do think human life > animal life, however I sincerely hope that this was a hoax to try and be funny, rather the actual throwing of live puppies off a cliff.

not that I doubt that they do that but, wont the gunshot alert the drug dealers too? or do they use suppressors?

Video appears to show Marine abusing puppy - CNN.com
"This is a shocking and deplorable video that is contrary to the high standards that we set for every Marine," Marine Corps spokesman Maj. Chris Perrine said at a news conference Monday night.
"We will investigate this and take appropriate actions".
Now even if that dog was dead it's somewhat irrelevant as people will still make a big fuss about it. Thus it was pretty stupid on the Marines' part to video tape it and post it on You Tube. To an extent, it also matters less if, legally speaking, something is done about it since most people's opinions still won't change and they'll just have one more thing to generalize the Americans about despite the high probability that similar incidents happen pretty much everywhere and, as the article states, many Marines have brought animals home to take care of.

And Gaz, Chris was actually making jokes about the incident.
That being said I also find #8 to be really funny, weather balloon hah...
