What I Should Do With My Life
I'm in grade 11 and i'm graduating next year and I don't know what I should do with my life. I think I have these choices.
1.) Go to college, then hopefully university to become some type of engineer 2.) Go to college and become a low waged engineer 3.) Go to college and then join the army as a specialist or an officer. 4.) join the Army straight out of highschool and in time become a career soldier that makes pretty good money. I was always the kid in school who had the brains but not the effort, in a class I liked I can get a 96 percent but in a class I thought was useless like French I failed miserably. Do you think at this point where i'm in grade 11 and I'm still getting some C's I have any chance to be really succesful in life? I took a career test and it said alot of things I would think of doing if I had only done better in school. Electrical Engineer Computer Engineer Lawyer Politician Military Officer Police Officer Stockbroker The question is, what would be the best choice for a satisfactory high school student like me? |

As somebody who has gone through nearly an identical experience I hope I can give you some sound advice. It sounds like you're in the same boat I was. I didn't decide what I wanted to do after high school until a few months ago, and I graduate this year. I knew I wanted to go to university, but I didn't know much more than that.
The first step is identifying your strengths, or what you're interested in - you've already done that, and believe me, that's the hardest part. Here are my marks from last year (grade 11). Code:
MBF3C1 (Math) 2007/02 1 54 SBI3C1 (Biology) 2007/02 1 78 BMI3C1 (Marketing) 2007/06 1 63 ENG3U1 (English) 2007/06 1 70 I got my first acceptance last night - to McMaster University. Only because I found out what I wanted to do - philosophy - and pulled myself up by my own bootstraps and worked my ass off to get some decent marks. I finished my first semester of grade 12 with an average just under 80%. If I can keep up with my history, economics and law work, hopefully UofT will send an acceptance my way. So, regardless of your grade 11 marks, if you work your little butt off in grade 12, getting into a university of your choice isn't that hard. Good luck. |

Lol! I just read "What I should Do With My Wife".
Anyway here in Brazil if you don't know what to do you go to Law School. I just graduated this year and I'm not fully decided yet but I'm liking the idea of being a Federal Agent - which is like being from FBI. What I like about Law School is that even if you won't be a Lawyer, you learn a lot about your rights/duties in your country so there's a lesson for everyone. I hope you can find what best suits you though. Good luck. |

Become a communist revolutionary.
Go on, you know you want to. |

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Elec. eng. and comp. eng. are pretty much the same...I know because my brother is finishing elec. eng. at university. I say do the elec. or comp. eng. because:
A) You won't die from bullets. B) Who doesn't like the word engineer, but seriously you get to program and wire houses....FUN.) C) If you go to the University of Toronto or Queens you get to die yourself purple every year with Gentian violet and if you go to U of T you march through downtown. Maybe I'm just biased because I have 3 engineers in the family and most likely will become one as well. |

Garabaldi why don't you apply for aviation at Seneca? Will anyhow it's been awhile since I was in high school and at times I thought to myself maybe I should have spent more time thinking about my future while I still had the time. Now I've done engineering and I can sure as hell assure you it isn't easy. The course load for first year alone will kill you. The same goes for Computer Science. If you really think you're up to all the work and have the marks to apply for it then go for it, but like me you can chose to spend 4 years in a University program and become an Officer for the Military. | |
