They're not giving the whole thing away free, they're giving away bits and pieces. It is a very big step, and they're giving up a lot, but they're not just giving their game engine away.

Bits and peices !!! but other devs do that too they give sdk but I guess they are giving away a good amount of it so...

I love insomniac ratchet and clank series is pure awesomeness just wish i didnt have to buy a ps3 to play the latest =(
