Anyone use Vista 64 bit? Opinions?
I'm probably going to order this for my new computer, mainly so I can use more RAM... but reading about it there seems to be compatibility issues with a lot of programs/games.
I've heard that the majority of Vista-related problems are due to people using it on old systems, so that will definitely not be a problem, but do any of you use it? Does it cause issues with PR or any other 'popular' games? Have you had issues with hardware compatibility? I'm probably going to wait until my new system arrives so that I can hopefully find and run a compatibility wizard of some sort, but I hate waiting! Thanks. |

We have discussed this here before or in the hardware section, as well as the hardware forum over at firingsquad.com (great forum bty.)
Also a thread going on over at tacticalgamer.com 64-Bit windows? - Tactical Gamer Read through that to see what I and other guys said. If you know a little bit about computers, like you are building your own, I would get it. If you are a total noob that has to ask for help everytime your computer burps, don't get it. I like it, and glad I got it, and LOVE my 4 gigs of Corsair Dominator 1066. And yes I use over 3 gigs almost every day, so it is necessary for some people. |

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 64. My intentions of switching from Windows Vista Home Premium 32 to Ultimate 64 were to upgrade RAM to 4GB. Right now I'm running with only 3GB of RAM, but will soon upgrade to 4. I haven't noticed much difference between Vista 32 and 64 except a couple of incompatibility issues and more RAM usage. PR works fine and I see no difference than how it played on Vista 32. Hell I didn't even notice any performance boost in Crysis 64. The only improvement I've observed is in Autodesk 3ds Max 2008 64-bit. Things just work a lot better and faster now in Max. One thing to note is that Internet Explorer (64-bit) is useless since as there's no Adobe Flash support for it yet. Basically I wouldn’t recommend going 64 as of yet, wait for a year or two and things might finally come around.

Running Vista Ultimate 64 too. I've never had Vista 32, so I can't compare, but the compatability issues are getting better, even though they can still be damn annoying (webcam refuses to work, a VPN program won't work, etc)
Atleast I can game properly now, PR used to be unplayable |

Yeah I'm running Service Pack 1 RC1 and it seems to have addressed a few issues, so it is a little better.
