Default Intel details its 45nm assault for early 2008

Just passing on this news out this morning. Intel is looking to have another good year, and is supposed to have 8 core CPUs out by next Christmas.

Check out these release dates:

Edit:
and here are some early reviews:

Man, look at the gaming review, it just blows the current stuff away at a cheaper price.

Yeah I am really happy with my q6600 too, but a lot of people are looking to upgrade now with all the demanding games coming out. Also, with these prices and people buying them more developers are going to start making more multi-threaded apps and games.
The whole chick and the egg problem, they don't want to code the programs cause before so few people had multi-core processors. Now, with so many people buying them and it is getting harder to find single core to buy, they know they will get a return on their coding investment.

Meh, I did a similar thing but was playing CoD4. (Granted, Crysis is much more of a hardware whore though)

Neat. 8 core seems totally unnecessary, but hey, bigger is better.

4 cores isn't unnecessary but 8 cores is? My single 3.2GHz hasn't failed me yet.
