Default Northern Ireland Mod [BF2]

Hi all,

Is there anyone out there who is a good at mapping etc. [all skills would be helpful] who is interested in making a NI Mod for bf2. Aiming to conain, ni maps, british faction, loyalists, and unionist. It will also hopefully contain realism and lots of other well researched items.

Please Please Please PM me if you're interested or add me on xfire; marine94

Need lots of devs but any1 will do atm!

And what would this involve?

Firing Tear gas into riotus crowds, setting car bombs then phoning the other team with a warning, rolling up in a transit, opening the side door and taking someone away never to be seen again, Sitting in a guard post for hours on end, securing funding from sources in the US?

The troubles (assuming of course, you're not actually making a mod of the war for Irish independence, complete with WWI era weapons) would not be a fantastic basis for a mod. There hasn't been a large scale battle since the original independence war and I can't see a whole lot of fun in the intruge, abductions and terrorism of the recent conflict.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

x2.The troubles was never a full scale war.I would find this mod boring and possibly insulting(depending on what you plan to have in it).

I love these suggestions - they make about as much sense as Battlefield Oklahoma City Bombing.

LOL

Well I suppose you could make some kind of fictional mini war, reminiscent of that movie Children of Men or something, that could be cool. But, having a northern ireland mod based on the events there just sounds kind of distasteful I imagine.

Careful with that comment, mate. That's a very sensitive
matter to me.

In regards to the OP, we understand your aspirations but
the overall mod theme may not be best because of the aforementioned
points provided.

As does Ireland with most brits, you don't see us getting all wound up.

Yes, but you have to understand that when a family member
or someone close to your family dies in an event such as
the Oklahoma City Bombing, it really isn't something you
want to talk about.

I only ask for you to be sensitive to others who are deeply
affected by this matter, id est me.

I apologize that the thread got derailed like this. This is
another discussion for another time. Please do keep the
thread on topic.

What's Conain?? Loyalists vs Unionists? That's the same 'faction' so to speak. They're the same thing. Engine wise, you're going to have dramas with the team1 & Team2 settings

Not denying I'd love to see a NI mod because I live here, although I have to agree that it'd be a tad boring. The whole mod would be a watered down version of Al Basrah. Complete with civvis banging binlids.

Good luck though if you decide to go for it
