I used an 8800gts with a 3800x2 and it was great. Ive since put in a 6750 which is still good but tbh in normal games etc its not much different from the athlon. Itll be fine.

Someone please tell me that the above is irony.

Haha, I wasn't trying to be mean. But thank you for the advice.

Also, thanks to everyone else for the advice. I'm just going to have a difficult time choosing the right 8800 GT on newegg.

Hmmm, I was about to start a new thread with almost exactly the same topic, except my budget is $200, any ideas?

GeZe, I would wait till January.
Who knows, with all the new stuff hitting then, the 8800gt could drop to 200, which is where it is supposed to be anyway after rebates. RIght now the price is high because of a supply shortage.

Getting an 8800 GT, its around 300$ and out preforms the 400$ 8800 GTS and almost ties the 8800 GTX and so damn cheap. Get it, you won't regret

Katie Couric, while interviewing a Royal Marine sniper, asked:
"What do you feel when you shoot an Arab Terrorist?"

The Marine shrugged and replied , "A slight recoil."

I just got 2 of these since it was the only thing available at a reasonable price. Newegg is completely sold out of 8800GT cards and I was lucky to get 2 of these off the manufacturers website. If you have time or then I would wait till one with 512MB of memory becomes available, but if not then this card will suit you just find. Doesn't take much to power, can run all the newest games at high settings. If you SLI it then you can run any game you want with all the goodies available.

For Geze if you have time to wait there is currently a 8800GT on newegg that's only $209 which is really cheap for a great card. Currently, however, newegg is out of stock for this particular card so if you are in a rush then check out some of thee 8600 cards. They can run BF2 with all the goodies
