does anyone here play insurgency?

does anyone here play it?
i just tried it for a couple of minutes at a friends computer (i dont have hl²) and well...it seemed really nice. the graphics are quite beautifull, the weapons seem to have realistic recoil (at least somewhat), there is no crosshair, you can only take a couple of shots and well, there are some neat features like the ability to use bipods.
i especially like the setting - small urban maps, tight firefights - no vehicles. i kinda miss that with pr right now, most of the maps that are played are just huge, open landscapes where you have to rely heavily on vehicles and it got quite "complex" in an overall-kind of sense.

now i would like to know how teamplay is - as i said i only played it a couple of minutes and really sucked (i) - didnt even had time to really grasp the key settings and key mechanics. does anyone here have any experience with it? is it worth buying (=bying hl² or cs souce)?

Yep, been with the Ins community since 2005. A pretty alright game, but didn't leave up to its hype.

Getting shot from god knows where, too much lack of teamwork, inability to tell your team where the enemy are or where they are moving, glitchy movement, glitchy lagging (network code?)

I just don't like it really.

It isn't that I am so much comparing it to other games as saying it is missing too much to be enjoyable.

they made some very stupid design decisions in the Beta 2 especially with the gunplay that have killed the tepid interest I had in it

From time to time, when I feel like fast paced infantry combat in close quarters without having long loading times and so on.

I had a brief stint as a tester, and think it was hyped up a little too much. That is partly the community's fault, though.

It's okay, but lacks complexity which ultimately makes it boring after a while.

ah, played a little today - got to admit, it makes a lot of fun.
true, sometimes you just don´t know where the hell you´ve been shot from, in pr you at least have a general idea where that bullet just came from.
and heck, compared to insurgency, you´re nearly invincible in pr, it takes like two shots (at the most >_<) to take you down and it´s quite simple (yes, i know that two shots in pr are also enough, but it just feels like youre much more vurnable in insurgency >_<).
but i think that´s also what makes it enjoyable - it is simple, but quite realistic (compared to other shooters) too, the mixture works ^^

It's hard for me to find any mod or military game good now because i always compare it to PR where it can't possibly survive.

found insurgency fun for a while, but like others said, lacking in the long term. Kind of like when i used to play CS (shudder)....
