I had one for two years (In my state 7th and 8th grade students get laptops in public school) and worked great for basic schoolwork and web browsing. I'd go with the basic model and use the saved money for food in college but yeah. It'll do everything you need. I'd go with basic + the Apple Protection, as laptops have a way of being stolen on campus.

My sis has one, and I'll say that its pretty good for all the day to day school stuff. I would definitely go with the cheaper one, school work isn't labor intensive, but beer is money intensive.

Just sayin.

Well I just bought it today at Best Buy. The only low end MacBook they had was an open box that someone bought and returned and the geek squad had already looked over it all. It's pretty much brand new but I got it for $915 plus $200 for the Best Buy protection plan which in some ways is actually better than AppleCare.

I only got 4 hours of sleep last night due to school and I'm pretty tired so I'll mess with it tomorrow some more. Getting used to it is going to take some time. However, the features I've seen so far are pretty cool.

Apple softwares are fantastical, its all high quality and beautiful slick designs. But the price is killing all the fun really. Hardware wise it would be cheaper building your own PC and buy a copy of Leopard

Pah!
