The ads are generated according to the content on the page/whole of the site.

So if people stop talking about being gay and start talking about being manly and shooting guns we'll see a lot more ads like that.

Yeah, knowing how Adsense works I did find it odd to have such ads on a military fan website. But it seems in fact that they are targeting military keywords on purpose, as if I remember correctly (yes I clicked on the ad make fun of it like girlies, I don't care PR gets money out of it) they give 10% of every purchase to an association trying to repel the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy that hasn't really helped homosexuals wishing to serve their country in the military.

A lot of gay guys I've talked to say there is a very large gay contingent in the military. It doesn't surprise me, seeing as there's a lot of chilling with dudes and working out involved. Possibly the ad companies just know this?
