Weaponology: U.S.M.C (Videos)

United States Marine Corps

Originally organized as the Continental Marines on 10 November 1775 as naval infantry, the Marine Corps has evolved in its mission with changing military doctrine and American foreign policy. The Marine Corps has served in every American armed conflict including the Revolutionary War. It attained prominence in the 20th century when its theories and practice of amphibious warfare proved prescient and ultimately formed the cornerstone of the Pacific campaign of World War II. By the mid 20th century, the Marine Corps had become the dominant theorist of amphibious warfare. Its ability to respond rapidly to regional crises has made it, and continues to make it, an important body in the implementation and execution of American foreign policy.

It's a bit Ooh-Rah heavy for my taste (but that seems to be the Weaponology style), but it's all factually correct so far. Upload the rest.

Damn, I started watching it up to part 3, decided to go make lunch, and find out 4 and 5 have been removed.

I know the Black guy who was doing the bayonet training in the 782 gear and kevlar at 8:46 in Part 1. His name is Sgt Thomas and he is one of the MCMAP instructors there. He tortured the hell out of us because no one was screaming because we had mouth guards in and we pretty much did everything except MCMAP while we had him.(Physical punishment pretty much)

Again, there's nothing factually wrong with the videos, but I don't really care for that style of tv show. When they try to show a little bit of everything they usually end up with not enough of anything. I preferred the Special Forces videos (which I gather was National Geographic); there was actually a story and was generally much more coherent. Weaponology would do much better to narrow their focus to, say, the history of Marine Corps rifles or amphibious assaults, rather than trying to stuff the history of life, the universe, and everything into a 50 minute show.

I like that they put a little bit of everything into it. Gives the person who has little or no knowledge of the Marine Corps a glimsp of it.
