Dynamic buildings...how cool is that?
http://www.dynamicarchitecture.net/
I've been checking out the latest prefab housing lately and found this link. I think it'll seriously get you guys optimistically thinking about the future. It certainly left me in a dream like state. I wonder if it's reasonably possible, cost wise, to construct a single family home with that technology. I particularly enjoy the concept self generating power via wind turbines. |

feel sorry for the guy that has to oil it up so it keeps turning >_>
but otherwise it looks pretty cool wouldnt mind living there but i suspect you will still have to pay for your power while the builders get the yearly profit from selling the power. one more thing, i wonder if it would be ok for people who get motion sick i mean like on a boat or plane or in a car since your moving non stop. last thing, i wouldnt like to live there in a storm, lol your house would be spinning like crazy. |

hahahaha...yea the spinning would be a trip in itself, although I think it'll be a slow or random computer generated spin, making it even more appealing to the eye.
Although now you mention the greasing of the Turbines, It would be a bummer if it squeaked at night. I do believe though that the Turbines spin independently of the main structure and I'm fairly confidant they utilize a lower gear in extreme weather. Did you notice it takes only 90 workers to build it compared to 2000 in conventional building? Plus since it's primarily prefabricated, it doesn't cost as much in local currency and materials and is rapidly build, meaning we could be seeing a lot of those soon and practically anywhere on Earth? There's something aesthetically pleasing about seeing a single hugh monolith in a sparse rural area. |

I am normally one who likes the future, but this doesn't grab me as much as I want it to. Think how much these things will cost? In fairness,I am slightly weird in the fact I want to build a massive structure under ground, and have curved Hi Def screensact as windows (so its looks real) showing random videos or CG scenes, IE of Paris, space, under water etc.
Sounds more appealing to me. |

The construction material of the future will be Ceramics (sand and water) very inexpensive and much like super hardened plastics. You won't have to paint or maintain the surface. It'll be nice and slick looking as well, not porous and brittle like cement.
Yea I can't wait till we have massive room sized HD views of the world. We will probably need them, because I agree with you we'll end up either under water, on another planet/space station or in other densely populated structures devoid of natural scenery or views. |
