RE: Bible quotes, Come on guys don't be idiots. The first quote is from a vision someone is having, that is rich with metaphors and things to be interpreted in many which ways. It is not however a quote that says that the Bible says the world is flat.

The second quote is God talking to Job, a guy who lives in a fairly primitive society that haven't circled the globe or flown to the moon, and he's talking to him as such. And he's being figurative, talking about the earth as though it is a building that he built, and his point is that how can Job comprehend God and what God does when God built something as expansive and incomprehensible as the earth (because the earth was as unknown and unexplored back then as the galaxy is now - essentially).

Well isn't that convenient. It's cute when fundies pick and choose which quotes are metaphorical and which are literal : -).

Code:
2. Job 38:44 "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation?Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it?
Shouldn't it read 'Who stretched a measuring line around it'?

this reminds me of a classic science fiction novel: "ringworld" by larry niven. it involved a huge, artifical world that spun that way, with a star stationary in the center, so it was always day!

this story also inspired the famous video game, HALO!
I think, we've found our HALO civilization?

Well, I think it's fairly obvious that the writers of the Bible were making some stuff up as they went along, and, being that everyone knew the world had to be flat, they wrote that it was flat. No divine inspiration, no metaphors; they were just writing in a way the people of their time could understand. The way I see it, the Bible really isn't about scientific fact as much as it's about conveying morality to the masses, so all this doesn't matter anyway. Now, let's get back to making fun of the people nowadays who still think the Earth is flat!

This is obviously one big joke that some kids are playing and some people got sucked into it and we will see it on the news 2 years from now.

It takes 3,141,592,653,589,793,238 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. FACT.
TYPING IN CAPITAL LETTERS MAKES THINGS MORE TRUTHFUL. FACT.

Also, is saying 'Tootsie Pop' racist against people in Rwanda?

Garabaldi if you're going to be that much of a smug retard then there's no point talking with you.

I believe the Earth consists of a slightly convex disc resting on the backs of four huge elephants which are in turn standing on the back of an enormous turtle, named Great A'Tuin.

2 Words: Natural Selection

... Lets test the natural selection theory.
We ask them a question - Is the Earth flat?
We fly said believer up to the earth's ceiling.
Anyone who answers flat, in anyway, can then be used for weapons testing. If there are no weapons to test, push push them from the vehicle whilst at 100,000 feet.
