PC Gamer Crysis Review (shortened & no scans)

The first paragraph of the review:

Crysis has ruined me. Let's call it the "Crysis effect"-how am I supposed to go back to playing excruciatingly linear, stupid-AI-having, plastic-looking, videogame-y shooters, now that I've experienced the next evolution in PC gaming? In a perfect world, game stores everywhere will open at midnight to host Halo 3-style launch parties celebrating the release of Crysis on November 16th. Government will crawl to a stop; companies will report an unprecedented number of sick workers; exams will go untaken; fathers will ignore their daughters; and the nation's pizza delivery industry will experience its best day since the Super Bowl. Seriously, the game is that good.

Yada yada, the review goes on to say that Crysis is the best thing since sliced bread.

Final Verdict:

Highs: A graphical powerhouse; immersive, open-ended sandbox that encourages emergent gameplay; well-paced storyline; meticulously detailed; engrossing multiplayer; included map editor.

Lows: Alien enemy AI not as spectacular as North Korean AI; enemies can sometimes absorb too much damage; a few minor glitches.

Bottom Line: Destined to be a classic, Crysis is a creative and technological marvel that eclipses every other shooter released this year.

Final Score: (tying half-life 2 for highest PCG score ever), 98%

ALSO, the "enemies can sometimes absorb too much damage" line is false, damage dropoff is large on silencers at range, but otherwise you can kill an enemy on delta w/ 3 or fewer shots.

Sorry, but I had a hard time reading that review. Not because it sucked, but because of your avatar at the side.

The graphics and physics are superior and jaw dropping.
The gameplay is cookie cutter boring.

It's the same storyline and linear type play we've seen before. Moreover, I thought my commander would never shut the hell up until I located the "voice off" button in the options. Jesus... every 15 seconds he's talking in your ear about upcoming events and hostiles. SHUT UP AND LET ME PLAY THE FARGIN GAME! Obviously... it's game is intended for players who need hugs and hand-holding and even then it's over the top.

As a bonus, the demo includes a "sandbox" where you can mod/edit anything you want. Very cool, and I suddenly found the level much easier to play when I was in a tank muahaha. Oh, you want nukes? Yeah, they have those too.

Overall, the physics and graphics alone make you want to buy a whole new system. Yes, it's THAT good and it's clear this new engine/game will be THE most modded game in history. If PR moved to Crysis... wow.

I thought the demo was fun, but not even close to half life 2.
Its not bad at all, but just nothing that really amazed me. Good AI, Great Graphics, but I felt sort of cheap playing it. Even on Delta or whatever its called, its just not really that challenging when you can just go invisible almost whenever you feel.

Worth a download. There is no way in hell EA is getting my money if i can help it...

oh and same here with your stupid (genius?) avatar Katarn.
