One of the first games with destructable trees, interactive environments where the trees move realistically and there are animals roming around, and a completely new way to customize your weapons in real time.

Animals you can shoot and mess with are nothing new. I think the only REAL addition to the genre, apart from damn realistic trees/jungles, are destroyable and interactive trees. Otherwise it was pretty much all in Far Cry or other games.

Yea, but no other one game combined them all. That is what makes Crysis so great. It combines graphics, atmosphere, interactive environments, good AI, good physics, weapons, etc.

Even far cry had most of those (depending on your interpretation of good). I dunno, i guess i just wasn't very "wow'd" by the demo. Guess im just cynical when it comes to games.

HL2 was lacking in weapons in my opinion, but thats not my focus. I didnt really see much natural creatures, etc.
Besides, Crysis, as said above, is such a graphical leap and it includes all the above listed. I dont konw what else to say other than most games that come out these days suck major *expletive*, and it seems that Crysis is one of the VERY few games that has had actual work put into it. now THATS being cynical But really, so many games seem to just get crapped out as sequels, prequels, movie games, etc. Something like this is welcome and if it kicks major ass, all the better. |

The game itself is a carbon copy of 1000 other games out there, but it's the quality of environmental graphics and more importantly the editor that gets the "wow". It's one of the few games that seems to be built as an editor with the game as an afterthought instead of a game with the editor as an afterthought.

And Far Cry and Half-Life 2 did have a lot of things that Crysis has, which is why it will be great. There aren't a lot of those games out there.
